Eight westside teams were in action in last night's state playoffs first round, here are the results.

Both Westview and Jesuit moved-on in the 6A state volleyball playoffs' first round.The state volleyball playoffs are underway and below are summaries of the local area teams' results:

No. 3-ranked Jesuit (24-2) defeated Tualatin (10-12) in straight sets 25-11, 25-14, 25-7 at Jesuit High School. Tess Masingale finished with 10 kills, junior Isabel Patterson tallied 12 kills to go with her two aces, while Jackie Carle had 29 assists to help push the Crusaders to the second round. Jesuit will host West Salem at 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30.

Westview (22-5) wasted little time dispatching Hillsboro's Century High School (14-10), defeating the Jaguars 25-8, 25-10, 25-10 at Westview High. The Wildcats' Alize Bakker led her team with 12 kills and 10 blocks, setters Taylor Guerra and Natalie Perez Parra each tallied 13 assists, and Kennedy Cheung added 10 digs in the victory. Westview will travel to Oregon City for a 6:30 p.m. match with the Pioneers Saturday, Oct. 30.

North Medford (12-9) proved to be formidable, but not formidable enough for Mountainside (14-10) who defeated the Black Tornado 25-19,25-22, 25-20 at Mountainside High School. The Mavericks will travel to Bend for a 3 p.m. game with the Lava Bears Saturday, Oct. 30.

No. 5-ranked South Salem (18-6) took care of Sunset — the fourth seed from the Metro League — in straight sets 25-18, 25-18, 25-21. South Salem was led by Kayleigh Carpenter who finished with 13 kills and 10 digs, along with Leila Leaks who had 38 assists in the Saxons' home win.

Pacific Conference champion Sherwood (18-3) shook-off a first set defeat to put-down St. Mary's Academy (13-15) in four sets, 20-25, 25-11, 25-20, 25-21. The Bowmen were led by sophomore Emily Fulton who had 12 kills in the home victory. Sherwood will next play Sprague at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, at Sherwood High School.

Sheldon (20-7) defeated Glencoe (11-10) in straight sets 25-20, 25-7, 25-19. Keira Vaughn led the Irish with 14 kills and six digs. Elizabeth Levik had nine kills, while Reese Morgan tallied 11 assists for the Tide in defeat.
