TriMet bus driver arrested in Hillsboro, accused of DUII
Deputies with the Washington County Sheriff's Office have arrested a TriMet bus driver after she allegedly operated the bus under the influence of intoxicants.
Vanessa Krinker, 46, of Northwest Portland, was arrested Friday, June 7 and charged with reckless driving and DUII.
Deputies in Cornelius received two reports of a TriMet bus swerving in traffic on Southwest Baseline Road shortly before 9 p.m., June 7. According to the sheriff's office, the bus — which had no passengers at the time and was listed as "out of service" — swerved so far out of its lane at one point it forced another driver out of its own lane.
Deputies stopped the bus as it made its way eastbound on Baseline Street, eventually stopping at Southeast Maple Street and 10th Avenue in Hillsboro, near Shute Park.
Krinker was arrested and lodged in the Washington County Jail, but was later released on bail.
Investigators are awaiting toxicology results, but said alcohol does not appear to be a factor in the case. The investigation is ongoing and authorities are working to collect video evidence, authorities said.
