Hillsboro police say man crashed car into child's bedroom
Hillsboro police say a drunk man driving a car near the Hillsboro Airport crashed into a child's bedroom early Monday morning, July 29.
Isaiah Mohr, 23, of Aloha, faces charges of driving under the influence of intoxicants, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, reckless endangering and violating his parole.
Mohr was allegedly driving a 1994 Toyota Camry westbound on Barberry Drive at about 5:33 a.m., Monday, when police say he sped past a stop sign at the corner of Barberry and 17th Avenue at a high rate of speed, vaulted over a drainage ditch and landed in the front yard of a house at 1073 N.E. 17th Avenue.
The car crashed into the house, demolishing the wall, according to Hillsboro police spokesman Eric Bunday.
"He crashed into a kid's bedroom," Bunday said.
No children were in the room at the time of the crash. According to Bunday, the children had been at a sleep-over at a relative's house that night.
"It would have been a much different outcome had there been kids in that room," Bunday said.
Mohr was taken to a local hospital for treatment, and was booked into the Washington County Jail later that day, Bunday said.
