Victoria Bramley, The Insurance StoreOriginal Medicare (Parts A and B) started in 1965, is a government healthcare program for those who are eligible.

Medicare Supplement Plans (Gap) are government regulated, mandated, and alphabetized private insurance plans (A-N). Medicare Supp/Medi-Gap plans work with Original Medicare (Parts A and B) to help cover the cost 'gap' Original Medicare doesn't.

Medicare Advantage (MA) Plans Similar to a health or group health plan, but unlike a Medi-Gap plan, they do not supplement Original Medicare. Instead they offer plans that must at least cover what Original Medicare offers, and may provide additional benefits.

Dual Special Needs Plans also called Dual Eligible Plans are private insurance plans that work with state Medicaid programs. They may offer additional benefits for those who qualify for both Medicare and Medicaid.

AEP/OEP this is the Open Enrollment Period from October 15th -Dec 7th This is the time for you to review your plan and can add, drop or switch your Medicare health plan coverage.

SEP Special Enrollment Period depending on certain situations, you may be able to enroll in a Medicare plan outside of the Initial Enrollment Period IEP (when first qualify for Medicare) or Open Enrollment Period time frames.

MA Disenrollment Period is between Jan 1st-February 14th. You may dis-enroll from an MA plan and return to Original Medicare.
