Trios Studio to hold Fair Trade gem show, sale
Trios Studio will host its annual Holiday Open House from noon-5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 2, at the studio, located at 3 Monroe Parkway, Suite I, in Lake Oswego.
The emphasis, says co-owner Mary Wong, will be on jewelry made of Fair Trade gems.
"When you choose to buy Fair Trade gems, jewelry and eco-metals at Trios Studio, you are positively impacting developing communities around the world, because we directly support them with a portion of the money you spend," Wong says. "We contribute to a mining village in Malawi, Africa, and have paid for the first freshwater well in the village. Additionally, we support the preschool and the Katsekera Secondary School, and have contributed to teacher housing and the medical clinic."
Fair Trade gem operations can be found around the world. Each is verified to follow protocols of fair wages, safety and environmental protection, and supply-chain transparency. When you purchase Fair Trade items, Wong says, you are choosing to support the protocol goals.
Trios is offering a 20-percent discount on Fair Trade gems and jewelry purchased through Dec. 24.
