Aspire Fitness NW offers in studio and online fitness classes

Aspire Fitness NW offers boot camp classes. Mallinger varies the activities and keeps things fun.

Intent on getting in better physical shape in 2015? Aspire Fitness NW in Lake Oswego is ready to help you keep motivated so you can reach your goal.

Aspire Fitness NW founder Alisa Mallinger’s mission is to help people learn how to be healthy and strong. A certified personal trainer through the National Academy of Sports Medicine, Mallinger has a master’s degree from Northeastern Illinois University in cardiac rehab and exercise physiology. Her first job in the fitness industry was as head of a senior fitness program for the City of Chicago. She had 200 trainers and 7,000 seniors exercising by the time she and her husband moved their family to Oregon. She took a few years off to raise their children and then opened Aspire Fitness NW in her garage in 2011. She now offers in studio and online fitness programs.

The in studio classes include small group boot camps, involving individual and partner work to build fitness, balance and strength; cardio, combining traditional and current techniques, such as tabata (a high-intensity, short workout) ladders and running to improve endurance and promote calorie burn; functional fitness to build a body capable of doing real-life activities in real-life positions; cross training and core focus.

“A strong core creates a stable foundation for everything you do,” Mallinger said. “Working the core is a key component of every workout. I keep our boot camp classes small and adjust the exercises to your ability level — everyone can do boot camp!”

Chained to your desk? That is no excuse for Mallinger. She will create a customized boot camp experience at your office. Perhaps you can inspire the whole office to exercise.

Travel a lot? That is no excuse either. Mallinger skypes with clients so you don’t have to miss your workout.

Mallinger’s innovative online fitness training allows people to exercise when they can in the comfort of their own home, hotel room, outdoors or at the gym. Clients simply log on when they are ready to work out and follow Mallinger through the exercises. Each week of the eight-week session, three new work out routines are released. Mallinger designs the work outs to build on strengths gained in previous weeks. Clients work at their own pace, repeating sessions if necessary. Modifications, to make the exercises easier or harder, are included.

New for 2015, clients can choose the online training package which best suits their needs. The Basic Plus package at $50 includes the eight weeks of video workouts, plus inclusion to the Facebook community, email access to Malinger plus a newsletter, all of which provide motivation; the Better package, at $70, includes those services plus a 21-Day Detox Diet Plan. The Best package at $90 includes all those services plus the past session of workouts, a 30-minute skype session with Mallinger, travel workouts and cardio core workouts.

Clients can purchase the 21-Day Detox Diet, the past session videos, a skype session or travel workouts as ala carte options.

The new online session begins Jan. 26; enrollment deadline is Jan. 23. Participants can receive a 20 percent discount on programs by enrolling by Jan. 31; use promo code review20 when registering.

“I work hard to be sure that everyone understands the proper form and purpose of the exercises to keep you safe and get you fit,” Mallinger said. “Every class is different to keep you on your toes. And I promise you will have fun and work hard and meet your fitness goals quickly.”

Mallinger trains everyone, from novice exercisers to athletes. If you are looking to raise your fitness level, lose a few pounds or get a fresh start on your workout consider Aspire Fitness NW.
