by: SUBMITTED PHOTO - Pearls will be on display at a special exhibit and sale at Trios Studio from Saturday to March 23.Trios Studio will hold its annual “Pearls of the World” exhibit and sale Saturday through March 23. A special one-day trunk show with pearl specialist Koji Kawamoto will be held Saturday from noon to 5 p.m.

The special exhibit features pearls from Tahiti, Japan, China, Australia and the South Seas and Fair Trade pearls from the Sea of Cortez.

“For thousands of years, pearls have captivated those who have worn them,” said Trios Studio co-owner Mary Wong. “They were coveted by royals and sought after by explorers.

“In fact, it wasn’t the search for gold that found the New World — early explorers were looking for a faster route to India, the source of pearls at the time.”

Wong said Kawamoto’s show would be a special treat for attendees.

“Koji travels all over the world to find the most interesting and fine pearl strands to share with his followers,” she said. “He says that there is a trend toward longer pearl strands, a la Coco Chanel, and multi-colored Tahitian and South Sea combinations in Baroque shapes.”

During this special trunk show attendees are invited to enjoy free chocolate martinis.

Trios Studio will offer 15 percent off pearls and pearl jewelry purchases made through March 23.

Trios Studio is located at 3 Monroe Parkway, Suite 1, in Lake Oswego.
