Portland Classic Guitar will present guitarist Marcelo de la Puebla in a United States debut performance at 8 p.m. March 14 in Wiegand Hall on the Marylhurst University campus.

The performance features U.S. premiere performances of several pieces, including “The Victor Jara” suite by Juan Antonio Sanchez, “Gates of Memory” by Javier Farias, both of Chile, and “In Memoriam Variations, on the Song of the Partisans,” a composition by French composer Colette Mourey.

De la Puebla’s interest in new music has led to collaborations with many composers worldwide, which will be included on De la Puebla’s forthcoming CD.

De la Puebla has performed and given master classes throughout Europe, Latin America, North America, Spain, France, Switzerland, Poland, Sweden, Denmark, Morocco and Algeria. He is currently professor of classical and flamenco guitar at the Professional Conservatory of Music in Seville, Spain.

Tickets to the performance range from $30 to $49 and can be purchased online at or by calling 503-654-0082.
