Music, reading celebration will take place at King Park in Portland

Rox in Sox, a celebration of music and literature for the whole family, takes place Saturday at King Park in Portland. Directed by Lake Oswego musician and educator Aaron Nigel Smith, the event features live music, author readings and other festivities.

Admission is free with a donation of new shoes, socks or books for children in need. Local and touring family music artists and several authors will join the day of fun in the park. Rox in Sox is a day of family-friendly entertainment, activities and summer refreshments.

This year’s musical guests include The School of Rock, Aaron Nigel Smith and his 1World Chorus. Grammy Award-nominated duo The Pop Ups will perform their electro-pop and puppetry show, and San Francisco’s award-winning hip hop trio The Alphabet Rockers will also perform.

Green Bean Books will present children’s book authors and illustrators, who will read and talk with kids about their works.
