Lake Grove Presbyterian to present organ concert
Lake Grove Presbyterian Church continues its 2018-19 concert series with a performance by distinguished concert organist Joseph Ripika at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 18.
Ripka is the director of music at All Saints Episcopal Church and Day School in Phoenix, Ariz., and an internationally recognized performer.
"I had the privilege of turning pages for Joey many times while we were students together, and always found his playing to be inspiring," said Jeff Woods, LGPC's organist, who is an avid fan of Ripka. "Since then he has been a first prize winner of international organ competitions in Dublin and Fort Wayne, and has performed extensively on historic instruments throughout Europe and the United States. He is a brilliant performer and I can't wait to see what sounds he gets out of our instrument here at Lake Grove."
Ripka will play a program of the Great Masters for organ, including works by Lizst, Bach, Alain and Durufle. The program will last about an hour and will be followed by a light reception. A free will offering will be received to support the concert series.
Lake Grove Presbyterian Church is located at 4040 Sunset Drive in Lake Oswego. For more information about the church and future concerts, visit lakegrovepres.org.
