That hashtag best describes the experience guests have when attending Nancy Scott's traditional British tea parties.

"I love creating tea parties for my granddaughters," Scott said. Then the idea came to her: Could she put on tea parties for other people? With that in mind she launched Sugar Cubes PDX last summer, and invites all to attend a Holiday Tea to be held Dec. 1 at the historic McLean House in West Linn.

A graphic designer by profession, Scott says the new business allows her to call upon her talents for design and party planning and her passion for vintage dishes and silverware to create an unique experience which can be enjoyed by all ages.

"I've found tea cups and dishes at estate sales," she said. "People today don't want their grandmother's china — they don't have space to store it for one thing. I love setting a beautiful table. Tablescaping has become a new art form for me."

She says she gets a "warm feeling" when setting a table with vintage dishes, and she has amassed full sets of special dishes to accomodate large groups.

The vintage dishes and utensils can be rented for private parties, or you can contract with Scott to put a tea on for you.

"There is quite a bit of protocol to a traditional British tea," she said.

Nancy Scott was inspired to launch Sugar Cube PDX by setting up tea parties for her granddaughters. She knows people of all ages will enjoy attending tea parties.

For the Holiday Tea Scott has seatings planned for 10 a.m., 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. Oregon City chocolatier and bakery Sweet Masterpiece will cater the teas, offering a variety of tea sandwiches, scones and sweets and fragrant teas.

"We'll be serving Twining teas," she said. "We'll have a variety of teas available including their Christmas blends."

Tickets are $33 for general admission, $25 for youth ages 5 to 12 and $28 for seniors 65+, gratuity included. A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Friends of the McLean Park and House.

Scott plans to host a traditional British tea quarterly. Plans are in the works for a Mother's Day tea, a summer tea party combined with a vintage and antique exhibit and a fall tea.
