Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts puts out call to artists
Calling artists everywhere — curators are currently seeking artists' submissions for the upcoming 56th-annual Lake Oswego Festival of the Arts. There are three categories for this year's festival. Submission deadlines for these exhibits are in February 2019. The festival will be held June 21 through 23.
Special Exhibit — Origin Stories: Comics & Identity. Sequence, repetition, visual and verbal symbols in tandem: These are the building blocks of comics, and are the tools artists use to create and present identities to the world around us. The exhibit celebrates comics as a unique form, exceptionally suited to help us tell the stories of ourselves. Deadline to apply is Feb. 3, 2019. Artists will be notified by Feb. 25.
Artist's Vision — Landscapes of the Imagination. What have you invented in the spaces of your mind? This exhibit focuses on scenes from one's imagination. from winged manatees, ferns from Mars, landscapes without gravity, we seek to display the improbable. Deadline to apply is Feb. 17, 2019. Artists will be notified by May 4.
Art in the Park — Guided by the natural beauty and rich history of the Pacific Northwest, this exhibit promotes and showcases the work of regionally and nationally recognized makers in a broadly inclusive venue. Located in George Rogers Park, this show is open to artists of all persuasions who produce original, hand-made, fine art and craft. Deadline to apply is Feb. 24, 2019. Artists will be notified by May 11.
