St. Josef's Winery celebrates 41 years
St. Josef's Winery is preparing for its 41st anniversary with a new tasting room, new sparkling rose and homemade Hungarian goulash.
Proprietors Josef and Lilli Fleschmann planted their first vineyards in 1967, and had their first legal vintage in 1973, making them one of the first 30 wineries in Oregon. St. Josef's Day celebrates the founding of the winery and the beginning of the growing season as buds appear in the vineyards.
They believe it is important to start the winemaking season with a spirited approach. The 41st anniversary weekend features new wine releases, lively music from Portland Gypsy Jazz Project and great food, including the homemade goulash. Tours with the winemaker will occur several times during the day.
St. Josef's Day festival hours are noon to 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, April 6 and 7. Music will play from 1 to 5 p.m. Tasting admission which includes a souvenir wine glass is $10 per person.
St. Josef's Winery is located at 28836 S. Barlow Road, Canby. Call 503-651-3190 or visit stjosefswinery.com.
