Mary Flower and BBQ Boys

perform at Lake Theater Oct. 7

The Music Monday concert for Oct. 7 at Lake Theater and Cafe features Mary Flower and the BBQ Boys.

Patrick Lamb Jazz Quintet takes the stage the following Monday, Oct. 14, and Soulmates Jarrod Lawson, Jay "Bird" Koder and Jans Ingber play Oct. 21.

West Linn musician John Nilsen will present concerts Sunday, Oct. 27 and Monday, Oct. 28 in celebration of the release of his 20th album, "Foreign Films."

Attend an Irish ceili Oct. 4

The Winds of Donegal of are hosting the first dance of the 13th season with Bob Soper, Elizabeth Nicholson and Conor O'Bryan from 8-11 p.m. Oct. 4 at 8340 SW Seneca St., Tualatin. This October Irish ceili opens at 7:30 p.m. with a dance lesson.

Soper is considered one of the Northwest's most accomplished multi-instrumentalists.

Nicholson is a Portland-based Celtic harpist and vocalist, known for her gutsy and dynamic approach to harp performance. She is considered one of America's foremost interpretors of traditional Celtic dance music.

O'Bryan plays Irish flute with the group Na Rosai. Tickets are $12, $10 for veterans, students and those age 65 and over.

Ceili dancing takes place the first Friday of each month, October through May at the grange. Partners are not needed.

Make a succulent pumpkin

Mindy Todd, owner of Petals Flower Co., will present a workshop on making a succulent pumpkin from 2 to 4 p.m. Oct. 12 at Piper Louie Home Boutique, 16148 Boones Ferry Road, Lake Oswego. Learn how to cover a pumpkin with moss, then add succulent cuttings, seed pods and fall embellishments to create a fall centerpiece. Learn more and register online at

Fire Mountain Musicfest, guitar workshops offered

All are invited to attend the Fire Mountain Musicfest taking place Oct. 3 through 13 at several venues in Cannon Beach, Manzanita and Nehalem on the Oregon coast. The festival is a collaboration between Cannon Beach Arts Association and Fly Me to the Moon. Proceeds from the shows and workshops will benefit both nonprofits.

Featured artists include Curtis Salgado, 3 Leg Torso, Julie Amici and Dean Mueller, LaRhonda Steele, Brooks Robertson, Grammy winner Doug Smith and many more.

Doug Smith and Brooks Robertson will offer guitar workshops Oct. 9 and 10, focusing on fingerstyle guitar fundamentals, expanding your guitar chord vocabulary, thumb and finger independence, fretboard navigation and freedom.
