Sitka Art Invitational slated

The public is invited to experience nature-inspired artwork in a variety of mediums and interpretations at the 26th annual Sitka Art Invitational Nov. 2 and 3 at Miller Hall at the World Forestry Center, 4033 SW Canyon Road, Portland. The exhibit showcases 350+ works of art by more than 130 Northwest artists. Artist Talks are scheduled on the hour and half-hour. Sales revenues are shared 50/50 to provide equal support to the artistic community and to Sitka's Workshop and Residence Programs on the Oregon coast.

An opening party with the artists will held Friday, Nov. 1 from 6-9 p.m. Attendees can enjoy appetizers, Oregon wines and craft beers. Tickets are $65 each.

Admission on Saturday and Sunday is $7 (under 18 admitted free).

Hear Gaelic super group Oct. 19

The internationally acclaimed Daimh (pronounced dive) will perform Oct. 19 at Sherwood Center for the Arts, 22689 SW Pine St., Sherwood at 7:30 p.m. The band takes its name from the Scottish Gaelic word for kindship, and hails from Lochaber in the Highlands and Islands of Scotland, and plays pyrotechnic jigs and reels and achingly poignant ballands.
