Unity Center presents soul-filled Christmas concert

The Unity Center in West Linn invites all to clap your hands, stomp your feet and shout for joy at LaRhonda Steele's Soul-Filled Christmas Concert taking place Dec. 15 at the church, 20255 Willamette Drive in West Linn.

The concert will feature performances by Steele and her family and members of the Portland Interfaith Gospel Choir.

Tickets are $20 each and can be purchased online at, click on "What's Happening" and scroll to the bottom of the page. Tickets at the door will be priced at $25.

This popular concert has limited seating; purchasing tickets ahead of time and arriving early are recommended.

Doors open at 5 p.m., concert begins at 6 p.m. Holiday refreshments will be available for purchase.

Steve Davala to present Author Talk at WL library

Local author Steve Davala will talk about "The Soulkind Master," the final book in his Soulkind series, at the West Linn library at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 14. This final book follows the character Jace as he searches for balance in the Soulkind. Straeten is still possessed by Fay; the Darrak are poised to strike Myraton and anyone who opposes them. And a mysterious threat looms over everything as the dark Soulkind Masters move to control the land. How far will Jace go to stop the scales of magic from tipping forever toward evil?

Davala, who teaches chemistry and physics at West Linn High School, loves fantasy writing and enjoys all his characters in the Soulkind series. The series includes "The Soulkind Awakening," "The Shadow of the Soulkind" and "The Soulkind Master."

Books are available in paperback and e-book, and on audio through Audible and iTunes.

The presentation is free and open to all. The West Linn library is located at 1595 Burns St., West Linn.

Oregon Rep Singers to present Glory of Christmas

Oregon Repertory Singers (ORS) will present a holiday concert of choral gems that evoke the Northwest spirit. The concert features short performances by guest choirs from local middle and high schools, including West Linn High School Dec. 13.

Concert dates are Sunday, Dec. 8 at 4 p.m., Friday, Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. and Sunday, Dec. 15 at 4 p.m. All concerts take place at First United Methodist Church, 1838 SW Jefferson St., Portland. Tickets range in price from $20 to $40 and can be purchased online at orsglory2019.bpt/.me or by calling 800-838-3006.

ORS performs world-class music accessible to all. It is a professional caliber adult choir of more than 100 members, and has been lauded as "the city's finest large choir" and was recently awarded the American Prize in Choral Performance, Community Choir Division (2018-19) for its album "Shadow on the Stars" released fall 2018.
