Trios Studio in Lake Oswego is hosting its annual Fair Trade Gems and Jewelry show and sale through Dec. 24.
Mary Wong, one of company's founders and owners, says the exhibit features some of the most interesting and unusual gems currently available.
"In 1979, I was so excited by jewelry making that I did not even think about where my materials came from," said Wong. "Fast forward 30 years and our store, Trios Studio, is at the front of the Responsible Sourcing movement in the jewelry industry."
Co-owners Deborah Spencer, Kathe Mai and Wong opened Trios Studio with the mission to increase consumer awareness about responsible sourcing and to offer the choice of Fair Trade Gems. Through the support of the most ethical jewelry suppliers in the industry Trios Studio has responsible sourcing, not just the "myth" of it, they say.
"We have presented at responsible sourcing conferences as an example of how it can be done," said Wong. "Trios has consistently donated money to support education, health clinics, fair wages, fresh water and more. We have donated to reduce the use of mercury in small scale mining. We tirelessly educate our clients on these issues."
During the Fair Trade Gems and Jewelry sale consumers can take advantage of a 20% discount on jewelry.
The exhibit and sale hours are Monday through Friday 10:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Saturday 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Trios Studio is located at 3 Monroe Parkway suite I in Lake Oswego.
