Through Jan. 3 — Northwest Children's Theater & School presents "Matilda the Musical" at 1819 NW Everett St., Portland. Based on the book by Roald Dahl, with music and lyrics by Tim Minchin and book by Dennis Kelly, "Matilda" revels in the anarchy of children, the power of imagination and a girl who won't let being "little" stop her from putting an unjust world right. Dec. 30 (1-3 p.m.) — Teens are invited to participate in a Super Smash Bros. Tournament at the Lake Oswego Public Library, 706 4th St. Winner gets a $20 Amazon gift card. Snacks provided. Harpdog has a reputation as a real-deal purveyor of classic electric blues and his new band delivers a vintage New Orleans blues vibe that's sure to move you.
