With a range of professional performers with and without disabilities, the show invites audiences to reexamine beliefs

COURTESY PHOTO - This April, the Delgani String Quartet partners with DanceAbility International and its Artistic Director Alito Alessi on Body of Sound.

The touring production features mixed-ability dance collaboratively choreographed to uplifting, live performances of classical music gems.

With a range of professional performers with and without disabilities, the show invites audiences to reexamine beliefs, attitudes and stereotypes through a lens of positivity and possibility.

Performances are 70 minutes without intermission, and take place:

April 3 — Kaul Auditorium, Reed College, Portland

April 5 — Tower Theatre, Bend

April 6 — Music Recital Hall, Southern Oregon University, Ashland

April 7 — Soreng Theater, Hult Center, Eugene

All tickets are just $5, available at delgani.org.

The production is a model for inclusion, expanding audience perceptions and strengthening communities.

Aligned with Delgani's reputation for "astutely curated programs," the musical selection for Body of Sound follows an organic arc.

Lighter fare characterizes the first section, which then transitions to more profound and powerful music before giving way to Barber's iconic Adagio, building to a momentous finish.

A Q&A session will immediately follow each performance.

Hailed by Oregon ArtsWatch as "the state's finest chamber ensemble," the Delgani String Quartet brings distinctive performance, innovative programming, collaboration and educational programming to Oregon.

Since its incorporation in 2014, Delgani has become the most frequently performing string quartet in Oregon, providing over 200 concerts and educational programs throughout the region.

The quartet curates its own series in Eugene, Salem and Portland, manages two summer camps for students, and offers weekend chamber music retreats to adult amateurs. They also introduce third graders to stringed instruments and chamber music through their Classical Spark program. Visit delgani.org for more information.
