Art students of Julia Armstrong Peltz are exhibiting their art through May at IMX Pilates Studio, 436 First St., Lake Oswego. The art can be viewed during regular business hours.
The artists exhibiting include Kim Ferris, Leslie Ferris Levy, Marina Mar, Maile Sand, Susan Frohnmayer, Rita Killeen, Brenda Frimoth and Armstrong Peltz.
Armstrong Peltz began teaching oil painting classes, using a method her mother taught her.
"My mother truly opened up my world with her method and I wanted to pass it on," she says on her website, juliaarmstrongpeltz.com.
"My classes have grown in size and number and I have seen amazing results with beginners and with seasoned painters," she said. "It is very rewarding work and I have learned so much from my students. I also occasionally hold workshops for teens and tweens. It is fun to watch younger people fly.
"I love to create and have also started oil painting on denim (jeans and jackets)." Armstrong Peltz added. "In realizing that I can never get oil paint off my clothing after it's dried, I thought it might be fun to do permanently."
Armstrong Peltz has discovered a new love in making mosaics using repurposed items. She says she is "thrilled when people bring me baggies of 'treasures' ... jewelry, toys, nails, screws ... whatever is lightweight and glue-able."
