LOHS students donate to new nonprofit

Lake Oswego High School students have collected more than 14,000 cans of food to help families in need.

Students donated the proceeds from the canned food drive, which ran the last two weeks before winter break, to a new nonprofit, Hunger Fighters Oregon. HFO (hunger-fighters-oregon.weebly.com) was established by LOHS freshman Michael Murray, and a new food pantry is expected to open this month at Lakeridge Junior High.

"Our school came together again to help local families in need and support a fellow Laker's nonprofit," said Chris Hill, LOHS activities director.
