District to provide devices for online learning
Before the Lake Oswego School District can provide online learning to its student body, it has to ensure that every child has access to a device and WiFi.
Last week the district sent out a survey to parents asking if they had access to these tools necessary for learning remotely.
Though hotspots are not yet available for families who need them, the district is ready to provide devices. This week the district scheduled 10 pick-up times and locations for Wednesday through Friday.
"We're really fortunate (that) through the bond, and the support of parent clubs prior to that, we can equip each and every student with personal devices," LOSD Director of Communications Mary Kay Larson said.
Kindergarten through second grade will receive an iPad and charger and third through twelfth graders will receive a Chromebook and charger.
Device pickup will be curbside and will not result in breaking the Governor's shelter-in-place order.
For parents who didn't yet sign up for a device, the district will have another pickup time next week. Fill out this survey if you need to reserve a device.
