Lakewood Theater Company to hold high school auditions
Lakewood Theater Company will hold open auditions for high school actors for a livestream production of the musical "Stone Soup."
The auditions will be held over Zoom on Saturday, Dec. 12, and Sunday, Dec. 13. Actors should be available for callback auditions Tuesday, Dec. 15, and Wednesday, Dec. 16, from 4-7:30 p.m.
All those wishing to audition should prepare 32 bars of a song (preferably with a recorded musical track to accompany it) and one monologue from the script. A list of monologues can be found on Lakewood's website, lakewood-center.org/pages/lakewood-plays-auditions. Monologues don't need to be completely memorized.
Lakewood's production of "Stone Soup'' is a musical adaptation of the original story written by Allen Robertson and Damon Brown. This retelling is a comedic take on the classic folk tale.
The story follows a traveler named Alex as he stumbles upon a city made entirely of stones, whose citizens have been taught by their evil mayor to fear everything. The story, at its core, is about teamwork and conquering fears.
The musical numbers range in genre from rock to pop to folk.
Lakewood Theater Company was founded as a nonprofit in 1952. It's dedicated to the presentation of drama in all its forms. Lakewood annually provides more than 350 theater artists the opportunity to learn and display their crafts, and attracts more than 35,000 people to its shows.
