SLIDESHOW: The Battle for the Lake is much more than just a football game. It's one step closer to getting back to having a normal school year.

Students wave the Lakeridge colors prior to the start of the annual Battle for the Lake football game held on Friday, Oct. 30, at Lakeridge High School.

When students look back to remember their high school years, they will always cherish certain key events like prom, homecoming and graduation.

But beating your crosstown rival, especially in your senior year, is always something special.

This year students from Lake Oswego and Lakeridge High Schools came together to play, cheer and participate in the annual Battle for the Lake. Now in its 67th year, the Lakers would go on to defeat the Pacers 42-21.

But more important than who won on the field, the real winners this year were the student in the stands, cheering on the field and playing in the school band. After dealing with a year of COVID, the 2021 Battle for the Lake was just one step closer towards having a normal school year.

Check out our slideshow from this year's game.
