The plot tells the story of young James who enters a magical peach and sets off on adventures with the garden bugs he meets.

The drama department chose the play because it is a classic tale that is beloved by so many, but very few have seen it performed live, said drama teacher Danielle Pecoff.

"It is a large variety of roles for students to sink their teeth into," Pecoff said. "I also appreciate that there are some really fun songs in this rendition of Roald Dahl's beloved classic which were written by the famous duo of Pasek and Paul, who are best known for their work on 'Dear Evan Hansen,' 'La La Land' and 'The Greatest Showman.'"

Last year, the students produced an original, virtual performance that followed four alien talk show hosts on their "Earth Talk Tonight" as they searched for life on earth. Now that the students are back on stage, they are rising to the occasion and learning the ins and outs of producing a show. "The students are really rising to the challenges of rehearsing a musical while dancing and singing through a mask. They were so hungry to perform live for an audience after making do last year with a virtual performance," said Pecoff. "Taking a show from first read to opening night is quite the journey and it is wonderful to watch these fantastic thespians grow along the way.
