Water heater break causes 2-hour delay at Hallinan Elementary School
After a day off from school due to a brief snowfall, students at Hallinan Elementary School received another morning off after a major water breakage.
On Tuesday, April 12, before school started for the day, a water heater located between the library and back hallway broke, leaking water throughout this area of the school.
A custodian who found the flooded hallway alerted the Lake Oswego School District immediately. The administration then scheduled a 2-hour delay for staff and students so they could clear out the water and start dehumidifiers throughout the area.
"There just won't be hot water in that part of the school for a bit as we wait to replace the heater, but hot water isn't used all that often and it won't interrupt any type of school learning," said Mary Kay Larson, communications director for LOSD.
Students and staff will begin school at 10 a.m.
