The primary school will be closed for over a year as the district project team revamps the campus as part of the 2017 school bond.

Community members are invited to bid temporary farewell to the River Grove Elementary School campus on June 8.

Since 1968, the primary school has educated tens of thousands of students in Lake Oswego. But starting this summer, the old campus will be revamped as part of the 2017 school bond. The project will help increase the student population, add more greenery and make the campus feel more connected with a different layout.

Construction will begin immediately after the staff leaves the campus this summer, and the school district wanted to show its appreciation for the learning environment that has taught thousands of children with a farewell party.

The celebration will run from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the school and will include light refreshments, school tours of the campus and sneak peeks of the new design plan.

Students and families can also sign up to receive a keepsake image of their student's art tiles that they complete every year.
