The couple won a First in Class trophy for their 1965 model 356 Porsche SC Coupe in the Porsche 1951-1965 category. While the Ammons had previously won several people's choice awards in non-judged car shows — including the Lake Oswego Car and Boat Show — they'd never entered a car in a judged concours until this year.

In an email, Faryl Ammon said they decided to enter this year's Forest Grove Concours d'Elegance because the 2019 event was commemorating the 70th anniversary of the Porsche 356, and they were interested in getting feedback on their restored car.

Faryl Ammon said they were "totally surprised" to win First in Class.

The Forest Grove Concours d'Elegance, an annual tradition since 1973, saw some 344 vehicles entered in 50 judged classes.
