In Good Taste Cooking School will make its Lake Oswego location headquarters as of Feb. 1, said Barbara Dawson, who owns the business with her husband, Matt Katzer.

The couple purchased the business, originally located at 231 N.W. 11th Ave., in 2000, and opened the Lake Oswego location in 2008.

'We need to move with the times. Our concept is more modern now,' said Dawson. She said the company was experimenting with new ideas for culinary experiences and wanting to offer more modern concepts in culinary education.

The Lake Oswego location has more space and flexibility for hands in culinary experiences than the Pearl District location.

'Lake Oswego has been very good to us,' said Dawson. 'We've felt very welcomed by Lake Oswego and the surrounding communities. We are really happy we chose to come to Lake Oswego.'

Dawson said revenue from cooking classes was up 22 percent over 2010 and private function revenue was up 39 percent.

'People really want to get involved in the cooking process. We're trying a lot of new things, like our Culinary Boot Camp,' she said. 'It's really fun and people love it. You spend a day in the kitchen with two great chefs and you learn so much!'

Dawson said other locations in the metro area would also offer In Good Taste cooking events and team building, including Kitchen Cru and Urban Studio, and In Good Taste's former space in the Pearl District. It will become The Parish, a new restaurant opening this summer by chefs Tobias Hogan and Ethan Powell, friends of Dawson's.

Dawson will partner with Hogan and Powell to feature them in special cooking events at the Lake Oswego location.

In Good Taste gift certificates will be honored at the Lake Oswego location and at The Parish through 2012, said Dawson.

A moving sale of cookbooks and cookware is going on now through Feb. 1 at In Good Taste in Portland.
