BUDGET — The city council discussed service levels during a recent goal-setting retreat and ultimately pushed for increasing funding for road work and decreasing funding for the planning department. That would continue a trend that emerged during last year’s budget-setting discussions. The city manager plans to consider the council’s preferences for service levels during long-term budget planning.

WEB — A public hearing on whether to rezone the West End Building property has been bumped to Feb. 4.

WATER PROJECTS — The city was nearly done constructing a 24-inch water pipeline in the upper part of Waluga Park last week and expected crews to then start installing more piping in the East Waluga Park parking lot. Once construction is done in the park, crews plan to move east of Boones Ferry Road to install a line along Lanewood Street and Douglas Circle. The city has also announced that crews will work on Iron Mountain Boulevard between Pine Valley and Berwick roads from this coming Monday to Feb. 7, resulting in a single-lane closure on Iron Mountain during that time. The project is necessary to relocate a sewer line.
