Construction projects will close parts of D Avenue and parfts of Atwater Road

ATWATER ROAD CLOSURE: Clackamas County will close Southwest Atwater Road between Knaus Road and Boca Ratan Drive for four months beginning Monday, June 11. The closure, which is needed for installation of a sewer line, will continue through Oct. 1. The road will be closed from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday through Friday, and will reopen each night and on weekends. Local traffic and emergency vehicles will have access to the road during construction hours; all other traffic will be required to follow the detour route.

D AVENUE PROJECT: Construction work is underway in the First Addition Neighborhood for the D Avenue Improvement Project. Work on the project — which will rebuild D Avenue between State and 10th streets, including substantial stormwater system improvements and a realignment to give the road a slightly meandering path — is expected to last through the summer and include sporadic but extensive road closures. LIVING WITH ALZHEIMER'S (JUNE 7): Wendy Bond, a Lake Oswego resident and member of the Alzheimer's Association board, will talk about living with family members who have Alzheimer's at a free presentation scheduled for 7 p.m. Thursday at the Lake Oswego Public Library (760 Fourth St.) as part of Brain Awareness Month.

FARMERS MARKET (JUNE 9): The Lake Oswego Farmers Market returns to Millennium Plaza Park (200 First St.) on Saturday, with more than 80 vendors offering fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, cheeses, baked goods, hot foods, artisan products and nursery items. Live music, too. Hours are 8:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

STUDY FOR FINALS (JUNE 9-11): Students looking for a quiet place to prepare for upcoming final exams are invited to take advantage of the conference room at the Lake Oswego Public Library (706 Fourth St.), which has been reserved from 3-6 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday at 3-9 p.m. Monday. Library staff promises to have granola bars and juice to help power you through!

'MY LIFE, MY ADVENTURE' (JUNE 12): Thor Spyros, who was born in Fort Benning in 1932 and served in the U.S. Marine Corp from 1950-1953, will share stories from his ;life from 7-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Lake Oswego Public Library (706 Fourth St.). Spyros went on to graduate from UCLA and studied photography with Ansel Adams; his presentation at the library is free.

RONNIE ROBINS (JUNE 13): Brooklyn-born guitarist and singer-songwriter Ronnie Robins will present Bossa Nova, Samba and some of his original songs from 1-2 p.m. at the Lake Oswego Public Library (706 Fourth St.). The Performing Arts Series concert is free.
