There's no call too small for the men and women of the Lake Oswego Police Department


6/26/18 7:03 a.m. Cameras and recording equipment valued at $6,000-$8,000 were stolen from an unlocked Land Rover on Douglas Circle.

6/26/18 6:17 p.m. Thieves stole a Nike bag containing breastfeeding equipment from a Toyota Rav4 on Red Cedar Way after smashing a car window to gain entrance.

6/26/18 7:21 p.m. According to the official police log, a caller told emergency dispatchers that "the front off her car is missing." Which would be slighly unusual, even in Lake Oswego, so we called to learn more. Turns out the words "license plate" were inadvertently left out of the quickly typed message, and the entire car is still intact.

6/26/18 9:38 p.m. Two teens walked out of the downtown Safeway without paying for four cases of beer and were last seen headed west on A Avenue. One suspect wore a short-sleeve buttoned shirt, the other a green polo shirt; both were dressed in shorts.

6/27/18 12:12 p.m. Thieves entered through a broken back window and stole a purse from a Nissan Rogue parked at the municipal golf course.

6/28/18 8:25 a.m. Tools were stolen from in front of an apartment on Mt. Jefferson Terrace while their owner was working inside.

6/29/18 1:13 p.m;. A trash can and recycling bin were stolen from a house on Seventh Street.

7/1/18 12:29 p.m. Golf clubs worth $1,000 were stolen from an unlocked Ford Edge on Alder Circle.


6/26/18 8:12 p.m. The owner of an unoccupied rental home asked police to accompany him inside after discovering that the back door had been ripped off the door jam and a side window had been opened. A few hours later, a woman returned home from work to find that her house had also been burglarized; in this case, the criminals likley entered through a kitchen window.


6/26/18 10:14 a.m. A woman told police she had gotten multiple phone calls from a scammer who claimed to be from Microsoft Windows and insisted that he needed to fix her computer.

6/26/18 9:03 p.m. A concerned caller told police she gave a caller her driver's license number before realizing it was probably a scam.

6/28/18 8:11 a.m. An insurance company's request for Social Security and driver's license information raised suspicions after a woman was unable to confirm the request online.

6/28/18 4:36 p.m. A Lake Oswego woman told police that someone used her name to apply for unemployment benefits.

6/29/18 11:13 a.m. A Lake Oswego man signed a rental agreement for a house in the Netherlands and transferred $2,426.65 to the owners, only to have his emails bounce back and phone messages go unanswered.

6/29/18 4:08 p.m. A mom told police that her son's stolen credit card had been used at a Lake Oswego restaurant.

6/29/18 4:44 p.m. A package containing a mic worth $216 was stolen from a home on Evergreen Road.

6/29/18 5:14 p.m. Thieves shattered a side window and stole a bag from a Subaru Forester parked at George Rogers Park.


6/20/18 10:28 p.m. The HVAC system at Lake Oswego High School is "incredibly loud" and possibly above acceptable

decibel levels, a man told police, and he wants it checked out.

6/20/18 10:55 a.m. A passerby spotted a plastic bottle lying on its side in a driveway on Eagle Crest Drive, with a camouflage cloth hanging out of the top and an oily residue on the ground nearby. Police responded, but found there was no danger.

6/20/18 1:01 p.m. Is there a "No Swimming" sign posted on the dock at Foothills Park? Yes. Did it stop a group of 15 kids from jumping into the river and swimming near the sign? It did not.

6/20/18 10 p.m. A woman received a text that said, "We are right outside your door." But before she could check, the text disappeared without her deleting it, and she has no idea who it came from.

6/21/18 12:49 a.m. Police were called after parents discovered that the boyfriend of their 17-year-old daughter had snuck into her room.

6/21/18 8:28 a.m. A male peacock was blocking the road and generally being a pest near the intersection of Church and Furnace streets.

6/21/18 9:47 a.m. A man may be living in his car at a condo complex on Carman Drive, a caller told police. The vehicle was described as a blue two-door Honda with expired Missouri plates, and a property manager said it may have been onsite for as long as two weeks.

6/21/18 10:24 a.m. A man who was shaving his head with a razor reportedly growled at a father and daughter as they walked through Millennium Plaza Park.

6/21/18 3:27 p.m. A resident of B Avenue who said her dogs had been barking the night before told police that she found footprints in the dirt outside her home and her bird bath had been tipped over.

6/21/18 8:31 p.m. Occupants of four or five RVs appeared to be camping in the parking lot at Hallinan Elementary School, a caller told police. Some had grills out, and others were riding bikes around the area.

6/22/18 6:55 a.m. A caller asked police to come immediately because she smelled a suspicious odor coming from outside and it might be drug-related.

6/22/18 6:55 a.m. Lake Oswego police have been called to their fair share of dog, cat, squirrel, peacock and deer sightings, but here's a new one: A horse was spotted running loose on Goodall Road, heading for Country Club Road.

6/22/18 9:24 a.m. Speaking of peacocks, one of the birds was spotted crossing South State Street by a caller who was concerned that the bird could either get hit or cause major traffic issues as visitors started arriving for the Festival of the Arts.

6/22/18 10:18 a.m. A middle-age man in a pink dress asked hikers in Iron Mountain Park if they would take his picture with his dress lifted. They declined and called police instead.

6/22/18 11:06 a.,m. That didn't take long: About an hour after the Festival of the Arts opened in George Rogers Park, a neighbor called to complain that the music was too loud. The bass was shaking her house, the caller said, and she was hoping the musicians could turn it down.

6/22/18 12:45 p.m. A business owner told police that one of his employees had been getting harassing texts and phone calls from a Spanish-speaking suspect who threatened to kill the man's family unless he handed over some money.

6/22/18 4:13 p.m. People were reportedly smoking in a parking garage on Kerr Parkway, a caller said, and the smoke didn't smell "normal."

6/22/18 7:27 p.m. The leader of a local 12-step program told police that the group was planning to demote a member. That's worrisome, the woman said, because the man has anger issues and threw a chair the last time this happened.
