With the field now set for this fall's City Council race, The Review and the Lake Oswego Youth Leadership Council are joining forces to host a candidate forum in mid-October.
All eight candidates for the three open council seats have accepted invitations to the Oct. 18 forum, where they will have a chance to introduce themselves to voters; answer questions from Review Editor Gary M. Stein, who will serve as moderator; and participate in a Q&A session with attendees at the end of the evening.
The candidates include Randy Arthur, Emma Burke, Hannah Crummé, Jackie Manz, Donald Mattersdorff, Massene Mboup, Daniel Nguyen and John Wendland.
The forum is scheduled from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18, in the community room at the Lakewood Center (368 S. State St.). The event will also be recorded for broadcast later on The Review's website, lakeoswegoreview.com. For more information, contact Stein at 503-479-2376.
In addition, two other forums have also been scheduled to give voters as much access to the candidates as possible:
The FAN/Forest Hills Neighborhood Association is inviting the community to "Speed Date the Candidates" from 7:30-9:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 1. Following brief introductions, each of the candidates will sit at a different table to give residents a chance to ask questions about city issues. The free event will be held at the Adult Community Center (505 G Ave.).
The grassroots groups Respond to Racism and LO for LOve will sponsor a candidate forum from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 8, at the Lake Oswego United Church of Christ (1111 Country Club Road). It is also free.
