COFFEE WITH A COP (DEC. 6): What does "no call too small" really mean? It means that the Lake Oswego Police Department is dedicated to fostering close relationships between its officers and the community — and there's no better example of that than during the LOPD's #YouAndBlue campaign during the holidays. Police officers will be present at numerous holiday events and activities this year, including "Coffee with a Cop" from noon-2 p.m. on Thursday at the Starbucks in Lake Grove (5800 Meadows Road). Introduce yourself, get your photo taken with an officer and then post it to social media using the hashtag #YouAndBlue. For more information, contact Sgt. Learn about the upcoming construction and its impact on traffic at an Open House scheduled from 6:30-8:30 on Thursday at the New Thought Center for Spiritual Living (1040 C Ave., Lake Oswego). A brief presentation is planned, followed by a question-and-answer session.

'THE DIARY OF WILL POMEROY' (DEC. 6): Co-editor Susanna Campbell Kuo will be on hand from 7-8 p.m. Thursday when the Lake Oswego Public Library celebrates the release of a revised and expanded edition of "The Diary of Will Pomeroy." Pomeroy was 14 and the oldest son of the superintendent of the Oswego Mines when he started keeping a diary on Jan. 1, 1883. His entries offer a rare glimpse of everyday life in early Lake Grove, when Oswego was the center of iron making on the Pacific Coast. The library acquired the diary in 2008 from an East Coast bookseller and published a limited number of copies in 2009. Because of continued requests for the book, the library decided to publish a second edition, which has been revised and expanded to include new information. The book can be purchased at the library for $28.
