Join the Youyth Action Council on Friday evening for a cool art show featuring the work of teen artists

ALZHEIMER'S SUPPORT GROUP (FEB. 14): A Caregivers Group designed for family members and friends caring for older adults with memory problems due to Alzheimer's disease or related dementia is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the Adult Community Center (505 G Ave.). The free group is co-sponsored by the Alzheimer's Association and facilitated by Vicki Vose.

OUTSIDE THE ART ROOM (FEB. 15): Lake Oswego's Youth Action Council will host a special fine-arts showcase and auction featuring the work of local teen artists from 6-8 p.m. Friday at Christ Church Episcopal Parish (1060 Chandler Road). The event will include live music and entertainment, refreshments and a mixed-media art clinic for children ages 5 and above. It's all free, although the art is for sale. And proceeds from a silent art auction will benefit the Children's Healing Art Project.

CHINESE NEW YEAR (FEB. 16): Join preschool and kindergarten students from the Chinese American International School from 10:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday at the Lake Oswego Public Library (706 Fourth St.) as they celebrate the Chinese New Year with songs, dance, poetry and native costumes. Culture crafts for children will be offered; the event is free.

SPRINGBROOK PARK (FEB. 16): Join the Friends of Springbrook Park from 9-11 a.m. Saturday as they plant native species and help restore the habitat in Springbrook Park (behind Uplands Elementary School at 2055 Wembley Park Road). No experience is necessary, but volunteers should dress for the weather; tools, gloves and a snack will be provided. TEEN TECH DAY (FEB. 16): Teen members of the Lake Oswego Rotary Club's INTERACT group will be on hand from 2-4 p.m. Saturday at the Adult Community Center (505 G Ave.) to help folks with their smartphones, tablets and other high-tech gadgets. No problem is too small, the teens say, and there's no charge for their help. For more information, call 503-635-3758.

CITY OFFICES CLOSED (FEB. 18): All City offices — including the Adult Community Center and the library — will be closed Monday in honor of Presidents' Day. Exceptions: The golf course will be open from 9 a.m.-6 p.m., and the tennis center will be open from 6 a.m.-10 p.m.

PUBLIC ART COMMITTEE (FEB. 18): The Public Art Committee will meet at 2 p.m. Monday at the Arts Council offices (520 First St.). Details: www.ci.oswego.or.us/community/public-art-committee.

DRC MEETING CANCELED (FEB. 20): The Development Review Commission meeting scheduled for Wednesday has been canceled. The next regular meeting is now planned for 7 p.m. on Monday, March 4.
