Lake Oswego Chamber of Commerce volunteers were up at 4:30 a.m. on Saturday hanging more than 200 flower baskets all over the city. By 8 a.m. the 50 volunteers had completed their mission just as local residents began to greet the day.
The Village Flower Basket program is managed by the Lake Oswego Chamber and funded by donations from the community.
Even though the baskets are up, funds are still needed to cover the watering expense. Each basket must be watered every day, rain or shine, to assure that the plants will survive until September. The total cost for each basket, including watering, is $250.
If you'd like to make a donation to Lake Oswego's Village Basket Program, contact the chamber office at 503-636-3634.
