LOPD welcomes two new officers
Shayla Ball and Dashon Panetta-Hunt officially began their careers as police officers for the Lake Oswego Police Department Dec. 9 and were officially sworn in Tuesday, Jan. 7.
Ball, 29, was born in Salem and was raised in Hillsboro. She played basketball at Clackamas Community College, Florida Gulf Coast University and Central Washington University. Her father was a law enforcement officer and after his passing, it helped push her to pursue her passion in law enforcement. Before deciding to pursue law enforcement, Ball worked as a special education instructional assistant.
Penetta-Hunt, 24, was born in New Jersey and raised in Simi Valley California. He attended Oregon State University where he played football and coached the Beavers' defensive backs during his final year of football. He graduated with a bachelor's in public health, management and policy. Panetta-Hunt most recently worked at Nike, before deciding to become a police officer.
