Restaurateur, real estate agents come up with plan that benefits food servers, medical staff

Seeing needs and finding a solution for them. That is what real estate agents from the Hasson Co. have done, in collaboration with restauranteur Ramsey Zawideh.

"Ramsey came to me with an idea," said Hasson Co. agent Lynne Brokaw. "He wanted to keep his workers paid and cared for, and thought we could arrange to get meals to those who need them. We put together a team at Hasson Company to deliver meals to area hospitals."

Knowing that COVID-19 has affected people throughout the region, the Hasson Company agents started a Go Fund Me campaign March 29 to raise money to pay for meals for medical workers while they work long hours and are exposed to COVID-19 while keeping our communities safe.

Zawideh owns several Baja Fresh restaurants including the one located at 17805 SW 65th Ave. in Lake Oswego, plus Sunny's Diner in Happy Valley and the Golden Corral Buffet and Grill in Vancouver.

"He charges us about $4 or $5 per meal," said Brokaw. "We delivered 150 meals on Monday and tomorrow we will deliver 245 meals." The meals are being delivered to testing centers, plus area hospitals free of charge, paid for by donations made online here.

"We have met our initial goal in approximately 18 hours," said Hasson Company agent Rebecca Kaufman Green. "Let's keep it going. With what we have raised so far we can deliver 1,250 meals to our area hospital staff! Amazing!"

Brokaw says the meal delivery campaign will continue as long as funds are available.
