Saluting Lake Oswego veterans
Biographies and photographs of local veterans are now displayed in front of the veterans memorial wall at Foothills Park in honor of Veterans Day.
The city of Lake Oswego and Lake Oswego Veterans Memorial were determined to honor veterans despite a lack of gathering this year. Community members nominated local veterans to be honored at the Lake Oswego Veterans Memorial at Foothills Park from Wednesday, Nov. 11, through Friday, Nov. 13, until 5 p.m.
Veterans John Hanan II, Peter Stidd, Thomas Maginnis, Angelica Pilato and William McDonald had their stories front and center near the memorial wall, along with their dates of service and photographs.
Nominees must have worked or lived in the city for at least five years (though they didn't have to currently live in Lake Oswego) and they had to be a veteran of one of the five branches of the armed forces in the United States, which includes Reserve, National Guard and the United States Merchant Marines.
