LO Reads book giveaway kicks off city program
While the annual LO Reads Kick-off and Book Giveaway wasn't much of an event this year due to the COVID-19 pandemic, lines of cars still waited to receive this year's book.
The Lake Oswego Public Library handed out 800 free copies of "Caste: The Origins of Our Discontents" by Isabel Wilkerson for the 15th year of the LO Reads program.
This was made possible with help from Friends of the Lake Oswego Public Library.
The book dives into the caste system, primarily focusing on India, Germany and America.
The idea behind LO Reads is for many community members to read the same book and then discuss its message together. There will be a number of free programs over the next couple months which will be held virtually due to ongoing precautions related to the pandemic.
