Kits help engage people experiencing memory loss with different activities, resources.

COURTESY PHOTO - Memory kits are available at the Lake Oswego Public Library for people suffering from memory loss. The Lake Oswego Public Library and the Adult Community Center partnered to create an engaging way to stimulate positive interactions for people experiencing memory loss.

The two entities created Memory Minder Kits that can be checked out at the library. Items inside the kit include puzzles, card games, DVDs, books with colorful illustrations, resource guides and activities to encourage memories and life experiences while supporting connections.

"The kits are intended to encourage positive and engaging interactions for adults living with dementia, memory loss, or cognitive impairment and their family care partners," read a library press release. "For adults with memory loss, a Memory Minder Kit can provide mental and emotional stimulation. For caregivers, the kits can help with stimulating engagement and building stronger connections."

To place a kit on hold or to see the different types of kits available, visit the library's online catalog and search "Memory Minder Kits" or call the reference number at 503-675-2540.
