Calling all Lake Oswego photographers
People viewing life through a photographer's lens are invited to grab their camera and submit photos for a potential prize.
Local photographers — amateur or professional — are invited to enter the city of Lake Oswego's 13th annual photo contest by 5 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7.
The city is looking for photos in any of the seven categories: "Life in Lake Oswego," "Places in Lake Oswego," "Positive Aging in LO," "Plants and Wildlife in Lake Oswego," "Pets in Lake Oswego," "Digitally Altered Photographic Images" and "Youth."
Photos are judged on quality, creativity and how well the image portrays Lake Oswego.
"Technical quality, clarity and composition are all important, but so is a flair for the unexpected and the ability to capture a picture-perfect moment," the city's website read.
For those under age 18 who submit in the "Youth" category, their photos can be taken of any subject in Lake Oswego.
The "Positive Aging in LO" categories will include photographs of people 50 and older featuring folks doing activities like hiking, picnicking, attending city activities and events, or painting.
People can submit photos taken before 1970 for any of the categories as prints, or they can be scanned and submitted digitally.
There will be a first, second and third place winner in each category who will receive a gift card of either $150, $100 or $50. The winners will also have their photographs displayed as part of a photo exhibit at City Hall throughout the following year, on the city's website and in publications as part of the city's November newsletter HelloLO and the e-newsletter LO Down.
