Lake Oswego adds two concerts to summer lineup
Two new summer activities have been added to Lake Oswego's list since pandemic restrictions were lifted.
After the Lake Oswego Parks and Recreation Department decided to hold The Picnic in the Park series — a smaller scale event in lieu of the summer concert series — they've since added two free public park concerts this summer. This is in addition to Picnic in the Park, which is every Thursday and was designed prior to restrictions being lifted. The public concerts also don't require people to pre-register with the lottery system like Picnic in the Park does.
"Since the state reopened at the end of last month, we've been looking at options for additional programming that is open to the public and free for everyone to enjoy," said Jamie Inglis, Lake Oswego's events and organic education supervisor.
The first public concert featuring Dance Hall Days will be from 7-9 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, at Foothills Park located at 199 Foothills Road.
The second will be from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Westlake Park located at 14165 Bunick Drive, featuring the band Stone in Love.
Inglis recommended people bring low sand chairs or picnic blankets, as well as food and beverages — though there will be some available for purchase.
Kona Ice and Getta Gyro will be onsite. Additional vendors are not yet finalized.
"It's really exciting. We're lucky," Inglis said. "The bands themselves are so excited to have the opportunity to get out there and play again."
