The city of Lake Oswego's Development Review Commission tentatively approved an application for the remodel of River Grove Elementary School during a meeting Monday, May 16.

The Lake Oswego School District plans to increase the size of River Grove from 67,600 square feet to 84,000 square feet — and in turn, bump the school's capacity from 575 students to 600 students, according to the city staff report. The city indicated that 17 trees must be removed for this project. The district plans to move 100 students from Oak Creek Elementary School to River Grove starting in fall 2023.

Also during the meeting, the commission tentatively approved a 2.09-acre office and residential mixed-use building at 16494 S.W. Boones Ferry Road in the West Lake Grove Design District.

The commission will need to OK the findings and conclusions for both projects to finish the approval process during a June 6 meeting.
