Lake Oswego community gathers for annual Juneteenth celebration
Lake Oswego celebrated Juneteenth in style at Millennium Plaza Park on Sunday, June 19, during an event co-hosted by Respond to Racism, LO for LOve and the city of Lake Oswego.
The event to commemorate the end of slavery in the United States featured a keynote address from Coty Raven Morris, a visiting assistant professor of choir, music education and social justice at Portland State University, as well as live music by Morris and Ekome Drum & Dance. More tunes filled the air when DJ Avelanche took the stage, and several other attendees delivered remarks.
