PMG FILE PHOTO - The Twilight on the Farm event at Luscher Farm is scheduled to take place Saturday, Aug. 13.

For those who enjoy the scenic beauty of Luscher Farm, an upcoming outdoor dinner fundraising event might be just for you.

The Friends of Luscher Farm is hosting Twilight on the Farm — which will include food and beverages, an auction, a dinner from the chefs at Oven & Shaker, an appearance from the Luscher family and more — at 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 13, at the farm on the border of Lake Oswego and West Linn.

"If they love Luscher Farm, which a lot of people in town do, this is the event to come to — to meet the Luschers and hear about the exciting plans for the near future with the addition of the greenhouse. People should come to support us," said Gale Wallmark, a member of the advisory board for the Friends of Luscher Farm.

The Friends of Luscher Farm, Wallmark said, is working to raise $35,000 for a new greenhouse in the children's garden and this event will support that effort. She added that the current greenhouse is dilapidated and unusable. The greenhouse supports programs like Adopt a Plant, produce donated to organizations like Lake Oswego Meals on Wheels and the Hunger Fighters of Oregon, and educational efforts.

"The new greenhouse will be 20-by-20, much larger and much more functional. It serves some of the most important programs at the farm," she said.

Wallmark mentioned that the group's mission is to support the historic legacy of the farm, as well as sustainable urban agriculture and educational programming. One recent project consisted of planting oak trees in collaboration with the city of Lake Oswego.

The emcee for the Twilight at the Farm event will be former KGW news anchor/reporter Anne Jaeger. City Parks and Recreation Director Ivan Anderholm will conduct a Q&A regarding future plans for the Luscher area. Wallmark noted that the event sells out every year and locals should purchase tickets as soon as they can.
