I ask for your vote this coming May regardless of your party registration or your geographic location

When you get your voters pamphlet at the end of April and turn to the Lake Oswego School Board candidate statements you will see an absence of party registration attached to candidate's names. Likewise, when you receive your ballots around May 1, there will be the same lack of party identification. It is not a mistake of omission. Our school board races are non-partisan and it is a non-partisan, bipartisan approach by our school board that will most benefit our students, our entire school district and Lake Oswego as a whole.

This great city of ours is invested in our schools and our students, and our citizens should expect that the school board is a team who understands their mission and who can meet challenges without partisanship. You entrust the team with the task of making sure that the opportunity exists for a high-quality education for each and every student in our community. As I work to become part of the team, I want you to know I will actively engage parents, business people, civic leaders, teachers and classified employees along with the whole community. Together, our collective goal for the long-term excellence of the LO School District becomes a reality. Together, we can increase our graduation rate and get our kids ready for post high school success. Together, we can prioritize our limited resources to ensure a safe environment exists so all students can have a great learning experience.

Some differences have formed in our school community and I commit to bringing a new tone, a fresh approach and creative ideas to bridge those differences. We are all ONE community. We are not a north side LO or a south side LO. We are Lake Oswego, where every student at every school should have equitable opportunities and access to programs. School board members should represent the community's diverse beliefs, values and priorities unencumbered by party labels.

I grew up in Lake Oswego, went to K-12 in the local schools. I'm a past classified employee, now a parent of elementary and junior high daughters and a small business owner. I understand the importance of building relationships and I look forward to bringing my hands-on experience and my entrepreneurial spirit to the board. We must move forward with a meaningful relationship with our new superintendent, stretching ourselves and our students and opening up our process so that it is inclusive and transparent.

We live in a global economy and the overarching goal of the school board members should be the success of our students through school and beyond. That means setting high expectations and meeting them. It means doing everything to strengthen public education to make sure all students can soar through the system. It means each and every student should graduate from high school having received an education that is both relevant and equips them to meet the challenges of this 21st century. And it means helping each child to reach their full potential. It's all about the kids.

I ask for your vote this coming May regardless of your party registration or your geographic location. Feel free to reach out to me and also take a look at my web site for the hundreds of bipartisan Lake Oswegans from all neighborhoods who are endorsing me.
