REVIEW PHOTO: JIM BESEDA - Clackamas senior Ciara James (shown here last year) and her Cavalier teammates are ranked third in the latest statewide Class 6A girls basketball coaches poll.As more games get played in Class 6A girls basketball, things are starting to get interesting in the latest statewide coaches poll.

In the fifth Class 6A coaches poll of the season, defending state champion Southridge — which took its first loss of the season in the Iolani Classic on Dec. 9 — is back as the No. 1 team, followed by No. 2 Benson and Clackamas in third.

However, Southridge carries just nine of the state's 12 first-place votes, with Benson, Clackamas and No. 5 Tigard getting one each.

In the latest poll — with votes from two head coaches in each of the state's six Class 6A leagues — Southridge won 9 of the 12 first-place votes and is ranked first with 113 points, followed by Benson with 104 points and one first-place vote, and Clackamas in third with 95 points and one first-place vote.
