Lake Oswego girls win Class 6A state tennis championship
Competitive. Close. Hard fought.
The Class 6A girls state tennis tournament was all that and more.
By the time the smoke had cleared at the end of the three-day tournament, held Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Babette Horenstein Tennis Center (formerly Tualatin Hills) in Beaverton, Lake Oswego had walked away with its third straight Class 6A state championship. The Lakers edged past the rest of the field with 20 points, Roseburg finished second with 18, and Jesuit and Sunset third for third with at 16.
In singles play, top-seeded Tigard sophomore Lizzy Stevens powered past second-seeded Jesuit sophomore Farida Abdelmoneum 6-3, 6-2 to claim her second straight championship.

In doubles play, second-seeded Beaverton sisters Sydnie and Cassidy Binder powered past Sunset sophomore sisters Bo-Bae and Jin Yu 7-5, 6-2 to win their first championship.

Beyond the top four teams, the rest of the field included Beaverton at 10, Tigard at 10, Lincoln at 8, Sheldon at 6, McNary at 4 and South Salem at 3.
