Lakeridge ski teams step up to third at state meet
The Lakeridge ski teams made themselves right at home at state.
The Pacers, competing in the Oregon Interscholastic Ski Racing Association state championship at Mt. Hood Meadows March 6-8, stepped up to take third place in the Boys/Girls Combined scoring, second in boys slalom, second in boys giant slalom, second in boys combined scoring and third in the girls combined scoring.
In the boys slalom on March 7, Central Catholic took top honors with a team time of 4 minutes, 30 seconds, while the Pacers were a strong second, finishing with a total time of 4:42.15.
Leading the way for the Pacers in that race were: Ty Glumbik, sixth at 1:31.17; Campbell Brown, ninth at 1:32.56; Jihoon Pak, 17th at 1:38.42; Shaun Leib, 51.85 32 for his one completed run; and Thiago Achcar-Winkels, 1:17.32 for his one completed run.
Lake Oswego qualifier Quinn Looney skied to 43rd with a time of 1:54.88.
Also on March 7, the Lakeridge girls raced to fourth place in the giant slalom, finishing with a team time of 7:29.57 while Summit placed first at 7:10.03.
In that race, Lakeridge's Maya Glumbik finished eighth overall at 2:36.29, while teammate Carolyn Mount grabbed 23rd at 2:35.39. Also contributing for the Pacers were: Campbell Drake, 1:08.15 for her one completed run; Laurel Finlay, 1:19.74 for her one completed run; and Santal Tacconi, 1:26.36 for her one completed run.
For Lake Oswego, Larissa Chan went 1:09.22 for her one completed run.
On March 8, the Lakeridge boys came back to finish second in the GS, finishing at 6:28.70 as a team and trailing just Central Catholic's 6:26.87.
Setting the pace for Lakeridge in that race were: Ty Glumbik, third at 2:07.08; Brown, sixth at 2:10.49; Pak, eighth at 2:11.13; Leib, 34th at 2:19.90; and Seba Stenfert-Kroese, 41st at 2:22.38.
For Lake Oswego, Looney finished 45th at 2:24.28.
In the girls March 8 slalom competition, Hood River took top honors at 4:19.94, while Lakeridge's girls skied to fourth at 4:45.71.
Maya Glumbik led the Pacers with her 14th-place finish at 1:32.41. She was followed by: Mount, 23rd at 1:37.77; Anna Patricelli, 32nd at 1:41.78; Tacconi, 45th at 1:51.22; and Drake, 45.89 for her one completed run.
For Lake Oswego, Chan sped to ninth overall at 1:30.00.
In the boys combined standings, Central Catholic's Tucker Scroggins set the pace at 3:28.75, while Ty Glumbik took third at 3:38.25, followed by Brown (seventh at 3:43.05) and Pak (12th at 3:49.55).
In the girls combined standings, Maya Glumbik finished eighth at 3:58.70; Samantha Woodring of Oregon Episcopal finished first at 3:35.67.
In the Boys/Girls combined team standings, Central Catholic placed first at 10:56.87, while Lakeridge was close behind in second with an 11:10.85.
In the March 6 skiercross competition, Pak was third ans Looney fifth on the boys side, while in girls competition, Lakeridge's Sophie Borah finished eighth and Grace Kuhn 10th.
